A Bold, Natural Floor Full of Character & Warmth

American Red Elm (Ulmus Rubra) makes a lovely natural floor with its swirling grain, small knots and vibrant colours.

Overall it is a rich red/brown with variations from light to dark brown, flashes of cream and subtle hues of green and red.

The Classic/Character grade has a scattering of small knots, burrs and pin knots.

We also produce a small amount of Rustic Elm which contains larger knots and other rustiv features.

Classic/Character Elm Flooring

(128mm wide & 20mm thick) - Also producing 110mm wide x 20mm thick from November 2006

A mixture of Classic and Character grades in any proportion. This is a beautiful floor with a scattering of sound knots, burrs and wild grain. The colour varies from dark to light brown with stripes of cream and white and hues of green and purple.  It is similar to some of the darker coloured elms which grew in the UK before Dutch Elm disease.

Density - About 600kg/Cu.m.
Side Hardness - About 3800N
Mod Elasticity = 10300Megapascals
Colour often lightens on exposure when lacquered.
